Octopus hands of political power blockers and red tapism can grab, engulf and mark paucity in the scientific growth according to Prime minister Dr.Manmohan Singh was a disappointing fact that marked the commencement of big deal of science in the outskirts of Kariavattom campus for five days.With in no time our science patriarch G.Madhavan Nair , put forward a pre requisite to ignore the fret of politics and red tapism as a declaration that paved way to breathless moments among the crowd and the crew.

Science that always solved the puzzle also found a solution to the development needs of the campus that was buried deep inside the trenches of law. Thus in its true sense it became the privilege of campus to host the event.

The deteriorated Copen Hagen summit and global warming gained primary importance in PM’s speech. Novel discoveries, inventions and technological outflows with a mixture of dissertations at its peak provided a new insight in its big scientific deal. Bio-technology, Space science, energy conservation like throbbing and upcoming science were well studied through the research works of upcoming scientific brains.

Nobel Laureate John C.Mather revealed about 2014 –mission of NASA to launch “JAMES WEBS TELESCOPE” which can provide a perfect solution to hidden big bang truths of nature. while responding to a question shot by the enthusiastic audience he said a big “NO” to the doomsdry threat in 2012 evoked by a recent movie.

Indian defence and research development organisation director general – V.K.Saraswath came up with the novel missile technology that can destroy satellites ,while seated here in the earth. The concerned project that is expected to launch on September this year is a precious inscription in the chronicle of Indian defence.

The father of Green Revolution, Dr. M.S. Swaminathan raised his voice against the power blockers who interrupt the smooth discourse of development in agricultural sector. His speech threw light to the controversies created by genetically mutated agricultural products. He argued for the promotion of small scale farming that can keep the foundation of agricultural sector safe. He also urged for a management revolution apart from green revolution that can impart a new impulse to this sector. He also introduced new formulae for agricultural self sufficiency ,which included triggering as well as supporting youth and women. Self- employment scheme in agricultural sector must be executed properly that, blue- collar jobs like farming should prove beneficial for the youths. For that concentrate in action than in speech he added.

Dr.Sailesh Naik, central geology personnel was very particular in describing the instrument to check air pollution, which is about to be launched during national games in Delhi. He also described about the INSAT- 3D, which is to be launched within months, another feather in India’s crown

Former Atomic energy commission chairman Anil Kakkodkar spoke about Indo-American nuclear deal and drew out a controversial conclusion that India should be technologically self sufficient to produce her own energy. He argued that India should not depend other nations for energy resources. Energy resources and its related topics were thoroughly discussed in the sections that followed.

On the final day of the science congress Dr. G.Madhavan Nair grabbed the attention of the crowd by exploring the emotional aspects of a scientist and how the professional egoism go wrong, to adversely affect the bright scientific future of India.

Exhibitions including “Kerala Graamam”,”Indian Expo” played remarkable role in the event. Public flowed to the venues to have a look at the magnificient scientific show offs that were exhibited. “DRDO” stall grabbed ‘exhibitor of the year award. Exhibitories ranged from Robot to early human fossil found in India.

Childrens Science Congress that was an accessory to the main event was significant with the presence of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. It was a boost for the upcoming little scientific brains.
The resolutions after the brain storming sessions of the event is expected to be submitted before the central Government as a new tool for the abrupt technological development in India.

To sum up 97th NSC was not a mere beat around the bush but a new path way to scientific India.
