The SSA visualizes many innovative programmes for the benefit of teachers and students. The important programmes are summarized below.

Q 1. As the first President of SFI share with us about the formation of the organisation in all India level?

Students Federation of India started working under this name from 70’s onwards. The backdrop for the formation of SFI was an ideological split in K.S.F. One faction, who be termed as ‘Reformationists,’ stood for gradual changes. They urged to support the government which was unpopular. A contradictory idea to that of the Reformationist rose up among another group. As a result ofall these one faction began working under the little AISF. An All India Conference on those who agreed with the ideas of KSF in response to the prevailed social condition was held at Kolkota on June 1, 1970 and that camp decided to form the organisation SFI. It was official inagurated and started working on October 2, 1970 on the conference held at Thiruvananthapuram.

Q 2. How was the response towards the newly formed organisation?

Even though the organisation started functioning in a limited ways with limited resources the respones was very positive and welcoming.

Q 3. Com, According to you what were the factors which helped in the rapid growth of the organisation?
There was a total shift in the global affairs and the communist regime again race to relevance in the world. ‘Intellectuals’ in the society began to take pro-communist stances. Students from the backward sections came to college campuses who had an affinity towards the communist ideology. Another major cause is a backsliding of KSU from not only popular social issues but also academic issues. Meanwhile SFI began to raise strong slogans and protest for the needs of the time and got wide support from all section of society. The intellectual approach that SFI took for its working made the prganisation dynamic and attracted a lot towards the new path and new world.

Q 4. Ends for which you worked?

Major aims which we strived to achieve were

1) Universalization of Education

2) Timely revision of academic syllabus.

3) End inequalities that prevailed in the then educationa sector.

4) Improvement of hostel facilities.

Q 5. Ends for which we have to work?

Being a social animal and awarecitizen the issues you have to give primary importance are,

1. Spell casted by globalization on our educational sector.

2. Governments withdrawal from the sector.

3. Prograssive law on education has to be enforced.

Q 6. What is your opinion about the present day status of SFI?

Being not a member of the organisation an evaluation is out of place. But we have to thighten the screws and store more energy for future struggles. More over, you should raise new slogans, bring up creative protests and be strong. You should teach politics and political situation and the social circumstances. More over you have to broaden your outlook to the society and issues.

Q 7. A meesage for us.

To quote Com: Lenin “Study, again study” you should be displined in all your actions and only that can breed sucess.
